Piano Moving World is based out of our office on Ogden Avenue in Lyons, and our five trucks work all of Cook County and the western reaches of the Chicago metro every week. That covers a lot of the same housing stock — 1920s bungalows and two-flats with narrow, turned staircases that were never built with a baby grand in mind, plus the basement stairwells and walk-up condos that come with them. Crew chiefs Desmond Okafor and Marco Vitale know these blocks well enough to plan a piano’s path through a house before the truck even parks.
- La Grange — Historic homes and tight front stairs around downtown La Grange, planned for before the truck arrives.
- Brookfield — Bungalows and two-flats near the zoo, with the same narrow staircases we see across Lyons.
- Riverside — Curving streets and older frame houses, with piano moves scheduled around Riverside’s narrow driveways.
- Berwyn — Six-flats and bungalows with basement stairwells built decades before anyone moved a piano through them.
- Cicero — Dense two-flats and walk-up buildings where a piano move takes real planning, not a rented van.
- Summit — Close along the Des Plaines River, the same humidity swings we watch for at our own office.
