Piano Movers in La Grange, IL

In La Grange's century-old Foursquares and Victorians, the piano in the front parlor is often the original instrument, and our crew rigs it down a turned staircase with care.

Schedule Your Piano’s Move
Describe the piano to Renata Kovac — upright, baby grand, grand, or concert grand — and she quotes a flat rate on that call, in writing, before you hang up
Boards, skids, and ramps get matched to that exact piano and loaded before the truck leaves our Lyons yard
Desmond Okafor or Marco Vitale shows up at the hour you booked to rig it out — no guessing, no general moving crew improvising

Piano Moving World handles more original, decades-old grands in La Grange than almost anywhere else in Cook County — this is a town where the piano in the front parlor is often the real instrument that came with the house, and our crew treats it that way.

What Changes Here

  • Homes near La Grange Road often still have their original wide center staircase, but the landing turn is too tight for a grand until the legs and pedal lyre come off first.
  • Permit parking near the downtown business district means Renata Kovac confirms a loading window before your truck is ever scheduled.
  • Below-grade refinished basements change how fast an upright picks up humidity in storage.

Flat Rates Here

Piano Type Flat Rate
Upright / Console Piano $250–400
Baby Grand Piano $450–650
Grand Piano $650–900
Full Concert Grand $900–1400

Questions From This Neighborhood

Our grand piano has never left this house — is it safe to move after 80+ years?▾

Yes. Eli Sorensen spent nine years as a piano technician before starting this company, and our riggers are trained on exactly this — an old grand that's been sitting since the house was built usually needs its legs and pedal lyre removed for the staircase anyway, which also lets us inspect the frame before it's ever lifted.

Is there truck parking near downtown La Grange?▾

Renata Kovac checks the permit parking rules on your block before the crew is scheduled and builds a loading window into your written quote, so there's no surprise on move day.

Do you charge more for a turned staircase?▾

No. Staircase type is one of the things we ask about on the phone walkthrough or from your photos, and it's built into the flat rate before you sign — not added afterward.

My upright has been stored in an older basement — will humidity be a problem?▾

It can be, especially in refinished basements below grade. We can talk through humidity protection or short-term climate-controlled storage if the piano is sitting between homes.

Desmond walked our turned staircase twice before the piano ever left the wall — every corner had a plan, and the baby grand came down without a mark on the newel post.

Booked the Milwaukee run on a Tuesday and Marco’s crew had our grand loaded, driven, and set back on its legs by Thursday afternoon — same crew the whole way, no handoff.

Fourth-floor walk-up, no elevator, and they still had the upright wrapped and down the stairwell in under an hour without touching a wall.

They crated the piano the week before a January move so the cold never touched it — humidity padding, corner guards, all of it done before the truck ever showed up.

Our venue only had a two-hour load-in window before the ceremony and the piano was tuned-ready on stage with twenty minutes to spare.

What We Handle For Lyons Pianos

Local Piano Moving

A one-bedroom walk-up near downtown Lyons or a five-bedroom home out toward La Grange — the same rigging crew, the same flat rate by piano type, no general-labor subcontractor added to the bill halfway through the day.

Long-Distance Piano Moving

Milwaukee, Indianapolis, St. Louis, or the long pull to Detroit — every lane out of Lyons gets priced by Marco Vitale off the miles and hours the run actually takes, not a flat per-mile guess, and the same crew that rigs it onto the truck is the one that sets it back on its legs at the other end.

Apartment & Walk-Up Piano Moving

We check stairwell widths and turn radii on Berwyn and Cicero walk-ups and scope tight street parking near Riverside before move day, so nobody’s improvising a plan for a piano on the curb.

Event & Venue Piano Moving

A wedding at a Riverside venue, a school recital hall, a church sanctuary — event and venue moves get scheduled around your load-in window, not squeezed into whatever slot is left on our calendar.

Piano Prep, Crating & Climate Protection

Crating, padding, and humidity-protection materials get priced up front by piano type, not estimated after the fact, and the same crew that wraps the piano in the morning is still there setting it down that afternoon.

Piano Storage

When your new house or venue booking doesn’t line up with your move-out date, we keep the piano in a climate-controlled space and deliver it back exactly as it left, corner guards and all.
